How to RDP to Linux Server from windows


XRDP is an open source Remote Desktop, We can use this tool for Remoting from our window clients.

In this article, we introduce to you guys How to RDP to Linux Server from window client

1.Prerequisites:

Install EPEL repository on CentOS 6 (In this article we take Centos 6 as an example)

As for 32 bit

# rpm -Uvh http://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/6/i386/epel-release-6-8.noarch.rpm

As for 64 bit

# rpm -Uvh http://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/6/x86_64/epel-release-6-8.noarch.rpm

 2.Installation

Run by below command to install XRDP

# yum -y install xrdp tigervnc-server

Once installed, Check again by this command:

# netstat -antup | grep xrdp
tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:3350 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 1924/xrdp-sesman
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:3389 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 1919/xrdp

Add the service to startup, when system reboot, it will auto start this service:

# chkconfig xrdp on                                                                                                                                       # chkconfig vncserver on

 3.Test

Use command line from window: Start –> Run > type mstsc to remote Desktop to Linux Server

Like this below image, just typing username and password

xrdp
